The day entirely dedicated to the public at the Frosinone Military Airport "Girolamo Moscardini" has just ended, organized as part of the celebrations of the Centenary of the Air Force.
L’Heli-Day 2023 it was a unique opportunity to tell and share with thousands of visitors, in an immersive way, the activity of the 72nd Stormo. From the purely inter-agency spirit, the prestigious Flight School of the Italian Air Force, in 60 years of life. he formed and patented over 5000 helicopter pilots of all armed forces and armed forces of the state, as well as students from foreign armed forces.
over 7000 visitors visited the static exhibition of all the helicopters in service with the Wing and the Air Force, as well as other rotary wing assets used by the other Armed Forces and Armed Corps of the State, for which the Flight School trains the relevant helicopter pilots.
The event represented a precious and exclusive moment to touch the helicopters on display and get on board to immortalize, with a souvenir photo, a unique and unrepeatable experience due to the celebrations of the 1st century of the Air Force, third armed force in the world to have celebrated the prestigious milestone.
The ordinary flight activity of the TH-500B helicopter, performed at three distinct times during the day, left all the visitors with their noses turned up admiring the training of the instructor pilots who performed maneuvers aimed at enhancing the skills of the crews which are then transferred to the particular training process in favor of the student pilots.
Besides the part dedicated to the flight it was possible to visit the flight simulator, an area used with numerous themed photographic panels, historical memorabilia, scenographic reconstructions and equipment supplied by the Armed Forces.
The event was enriched by fundraising for the charity initiative "A gift from Heaven for AIRC", from the participation of the Aeroclub of Frosinone and from various exhibition stands of companies in the area. Also present were the Associations of the Frosinone Air Force.
The 72nd Stormo of Frosinone, only school in the rotary wing sector in Italy, is the Department that trains the helicopter pilots of the Air Force, the other Armed Forces and State Armed Corps, and foreign visitors. Interforce and interagency synergy, developed in the field of training at the Frosinone Helicopter School, it is part of the perspective of continuous improvement of training and contextual optimization of resources.
