1923 – 2023: 100 years of history told in an unprecedented way through an ambitious artistic project, conceived by the editorial staff of the Aeronautical Magazine in collaboration with two Italian excellences, the Italdesign and Giunti Publisher.

 

Through 12 tables created by Alessandro Trombin and Massimo Borrelli, designer of the creative team of Italdesign, they retrace - in a sort of dreamlike journey - i 10 decades of the Air Force characterized by important events that have marked the history of the country and have seen the Armed Forces protagonist.

Twelve boards to embrace the past, present and future: ten to illustrate significant milestones in the history of the Armed Forces through its most iconic aircraft – one for each decade, from that far 28 March 1923 up to the present day – and two with a more modern and technological face that look to the future crossing the sky in its entirety, to conquer space.

Presentation of the Calendar 2023, an evening event hosted by the radio speaker Roberta Lanfranchi, was held today in Rome, at the Urbe Airport, in the presence of Undersecretary of State for Defense Matteo Perego di Cremnago, of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti and numerous authorities and guests.

in 12 months of the calendar 2023 of the Air Force we find the main iconic aircraft that marked the hundred years of the Air Force: from the S.55 Seaplanes of the Atlantic Cruises to the MC-39 of the Schneider Cup; from the first DH-100 Vampire jet aircraft to the F-104, passing through the F.84, the Fiat G.91 and the Tornado; dal Br.1150 Atlantic al C-130H, the air giant that allowed the Armed Forces to project aerospace power from the desert areas of Africa to the ice of Antarctica.

Helicopters are also protagonists, from the HH-3F to the AB-212 that alternate month after month on the pages of the Calendar up to the aircraft that today express the Aerospace Power of the Air Force: dall’Eurofighter, backbone of the National Air Defense and NATO, all’F-35, fifth generation aircraft that represents the state of the art of international aeronautical technology, passing through the Predators, remotely piloted aircraft. At the end of the “artistic” roundup, the assets that will carry the Air Force in flight towards the future such as the FCAS (Future Combat Air System) ed il Future Vertical Lift, fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft that represent the future generations of Arma Azzurra assets.

To enrich the editorial project also a series of multimedia contents thanks to which it will be possible to retrace interactively i 100 years of life of the Air Force; the video material, which can be accessed through the QR codes present on all the months of the Calendar, was created by the Audiovisual Production Center of the 5th "Communication" Department, drawing liberally from the rich cinephotographic archive of the Armed Forces.

“For a hundred years the aircraft of the Regia Aeronautica, before, and then the Air Force, soar the skies of the whole world”, commented the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of the Air Force Luca Goretti, at the closing of the event. “Airplanes of all specialties, with cutting-edge characteristics and technological solutions, driven by sensational men and women who have brought their contribution in strong colors, sometimes tragic, in the exciting plot of aeronautical and space progress, woven day after day with great enterprises but also with the silent abnegation of the sailors' daily life, of technicians and specialists, inspired by the values ​​and passion that belong to us and that we bring, and we will always carry, in our heart." […] Ours is an Armed Force that looks to the future, we may have changed organisation, structure, men, but not passion, it has never changed, it has remained unchanged throughout these 100 years of life.

At the end of the event, the Undersecretary of State for Defense Matteo Perego of Cremnago wanted to underline how "the Air Force has always made passion and innovation its strength, managing to cover the history of one hundred years of our country, producing excellence, representing Italy in the world by carrying out an extraordinary task”.

The calendar 2023 of the Air Force is included in the project "A gift from heaven for AIRC", one of the initiatives related to the celebrations of the Centenary of the Air Force. For each calendar purchased, the Air Force will donate €1 to the AIRC Foundation for cancer research, the funds raised will be used to purchase IFOM's latest generation molecular cancer research machinery, the Institute of Molecular Oncology of the AIRC Foundation.

The collaboration with Giunti Editore will make the distribution of the Calendar possible 2023 del Centenario AM through the capillary network of bookshops, with over 250 points of sale GETTING TO THE POINT, making the calendar available throughout Italy to enthusiasts and the wider public. The new editorial project, promoted by Difesa Servizi, has inaugurated a new process of valorisation of the calendars of the Armed Forces for the diffusion of the defense culture through the distribution and marketing in the Giunti bookstores.

The calendar 2023 AM will also be on sale on Amazon official store of the Italian Air Force.
