27 June 2010 – 100 years of La Comina – Aerocentenaria
They have passed 100 years since it was created in the countryside near Pordenone, on the area now occupied by the La Comina airfield, the first airfield in Italy. The following year this place became the Military Aviation School where many aviators would be trained who would then take part in the First World War, including D'Annunzio himself.
From these facts the idea of Aerocentenaria was born, an Air Show that celebrated the century of history of this event.
And the organizers did not spare themselves!!!
It had been years that our country had not seen an event so rich in historic aircraft. The propellers have in fact made it a master, with several aircraft that took off from the airfield itself. Jet fighters and large jet tankers also participated, from other airports due to the impossibility of using the local dirt runway.
The show, on both days, it was top notch: Spitfire, B 25 Mitchell, TBM Avanger, You 52, T 6 Texan, G 59, Canadair CL 415, AMX e DC 3 are just some of the participants who have sailed the skies of La Comina in 2 days of exhibition. On Saturday there was also the overflight of the PAN, back from testing in Bardolino, who left his unmistakable long tricolor. The weather at the end of June gave us particularly hot and sultry days, with a hazy sky that didn't help the photos much, but you certainly can't complain.
Unfortunately, some incidents that have occurred in recent days have severely decimated the holdings. The participation of FW was in fact foreseen 190, Polikarpov I 16 Rat and P 51 Mustang (just to mention the most interesting machines) but when bad luck strikes....
In Any Case, even with these defections, the event can be said to be very successful. All the participants were of the highest standard and the show was guaranteed. We hope it can be repeated in the next few years.
Aviaspotter participated on Sunday and this is the result
